Carlisle Cathedral Annual School Leavers' Service 2018

On Friday 22nd June 2018, Carlisle Cathedral staged the Leavers’ Service for Year 6 pupils in the local area.

Staff and Year Six students from 35 Church schools across the county joined together in the amazing setting to commemorate their move to secondary school.  Our thirteen Year 6 pupils attended the service, accompanied by Mrs Batey and Mrs Coulthard.  They truly were a credit to our school and we wish them every success as they prepare for their move to secondary school.

It was an opportunity for the children to thank God for our wonderful school and recognise the amazing strides that they have already made in their education; they also had time to reflect on how they have grown- and continue to grow- as a person.
Children were encouraged to remember that God travels with them wherever they go, and that his love supports them through every experience.
Canon Michael and Canon Jan were inspirational in leading the service - all pupils certainly had fun and they can take away a lasting memory.  The addition of some aerobic moves and dance steps certainly spread smiles all around the cathedral and the children showed great enthusiasm to join in- joy and happiness filled the beautiful setting.

On the walk back to the minibus, we could view the iconic Weeping Window sculpture, by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper.  It is on display for all to see at Carlisle Castle until 8 July 2018.
