ROCKCLIFFE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Medieval Dance

As part of our current 'Dungeons and Dragons' topic, we travelled back in time to learn more about what life might have been like for people living and working in Medieval Britain.  We researched medieval jobs, from the wealthy castllian or castle owner to the poor scullion who laboured for hours in the depths of the castle kitchen.  We investigated medieval food and drink and compared it to the food we enjoy today and we looked at pastimes and entertainment, in particular music and dance.   We listened to some recorded music, recreated using instruments from this period in history.  We watched some medieval dancers perform a traditional dance and we had a go at choreographing our own dance routine to acompany the music.  We danced with a partner, remembering to bow and curtsey politely at the beginning and end of the dance.

We performed and recorded our dance and watched it back together.
