Music

During this unit, children use songs and activities to develop confidence in singing and playing to a common pulse. They will respond to and explore changes of speed (tempo) and repeat and create simple rhythmic phrases. They use these skills to create an accompaniment for a song or chant. 
Children will use varied percussion instruments to accompany pieces of music and mark the pulse/beat.  
Children will accompany various pieces of music including:
What's the time Mr Wolf?

A plate of potatoes
How many people here for dinner?

They will be able to accompany a song by clapping or playing the pulse, choose appropriate instruments and be able to make improvements to a composition, discussing using musical terms.
