Our Vision and Values

"Believe and Achieve"

Rockcliffe CE School provides a nurturing environment that inspires and challenges our whole school family.  This is built on our core values of love, trust, tolerance, respect and forgiveness which together help us to create a sense of true community.

Our children are encouraged to believe in themselves and a loving God.  We enable them to develop their cognitive abilities, and their spirituality, whilst inspiring them to achieve using all their gifts.

Although our school values formal education and knowledge we also know that these are nothing if they are not based on love. We encourage our children not only to train their cognitive abilities, but also to develop their emotional intelligence. They are not just proud of their own achievements but also celebrate when others have done well. We try to create a loving atmosphere throughout the school in which each child feels loved, appreciated, valued and cared for (1 Corinthians 13: 1 – 13)

We nurture an atmosphere of mutual trust – between the children as well as between pupils and teachers. We encourage the children to be trusting and trustworthy, honest and fearless. We model this behaviour in our worship and prayer activities as we encourage children to develop their trust in God, to pray in an open and honest way and to understand God as a loving, generous and forgiving Parent (Joshua 1: 9)

Our school community is built on understanding and tolerance; everybody has the freedom to grow, develop and dream. We are an inclusive school and are encouraging children to help others without judging them. We believe that everyone should be enabled to live their lives to the full (John 10:10)

We value and respect everyone’s beliefs and opinions. We enable our children to get to know people from different religious and cultural backgrounds. Our worship and RE lessons teach about other religions, the parallels to the Christian faith and encourage the children to reflect on their own developing Christian outlook on life. We believe that God’s love is so great it encompasses the whole world and all God’s children (John 14: 2)

With God there is always the opportunity to start again. When we make mistakes, or when we have behaved in ways that hurt others, we can apologise and are forgiven.

There is no mistake great enough to forfeit the love of God, likewise we should try to forgive others, just as God forgives us.

The Lord’s Prayer helps us to memorise this “and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” Matthew 6:12

The Christian faith is best lived out in community. Discipleship and personal faith can only grow among others and as a school we nurture a sense of pride in our school community. We encourage the children to co-operate and learn together, help each other and show compassion to their peers (Galatians 6:2)
