Spot the Difference Map Challenge
As part of our mapping and land use investigation into Carlisle and its surroundings areas, our young geographers have been exploring a range of maps to investigate how the landscape of Carlisle has changed. To help them to make simple comparisons between 1890's Carlisle and modern day Carlisle, children used a range of Ordinance Survey Maps and old 1890 street maps and compared these to online digital maps of the same area. They identified a number of landmarks that appear on each map and then, using geographical language, began to explain and record how the landscape of Carlisle has changed over the period.
