ROCKCLIFFE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

C5 Spring Term 2019

The first half term we will be learning about the following:

Our school hall displays are about the book of Genesis.  We looked at the tale of Abraham and his journey to find God.

This half term we have been lucky enough to take part in the Litter Monster part two project with Wood Matters, Eden River Trust and Gorgeous Media. We went on a litter pick, collated our data (comparing it to our last litter pick) and created our own little litter monsters! With our creations we were able to take part in producing a stop motion animation tackling the issue of litter in our environment.

Our English work this half term is focussed around the novel 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundel. Today we have focussed on describing setting with quality adjectives.

Today we have developed the use of our adjectives to create our own setting.

This second half term we will be learning through the following units:

Through our Topic work we have explored some of the animals native to the rainforests n Brazil. With pastels with focused on recreating the colours and textures.

This half term we have also enjoyed creating our own shrove Tuesday pancakes and then produced instructions helping others to make their own.

Additionally, our science has focussed on electricty and creating our own series circuits. We have found out more about the way electricty works and which materials are conductors/insulators.

In Art we have also designed and created our own masks influenced by Brazilian Carnival!

Our Science this half term us focussed on animals including humans. Today we explored how the digestive system works. We have also investiagted the effects of certain liquids on our teeth. The results definetly made some of us think about what we drink!

This half term our value has been Trust. We have been thinking about those who we trust and what it means to be trusted. We have considered our responsibilites as someone who can be trusted to others and what we expect from those we can trust. We have developed this more in our class assemblies which have been presented to the whole school.
