Spring 2025
This half term has been action packed the whole school celebrated National Well Being Day with a special visit from some delightful alpacas. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, feeling the softness of their wool and having the opportunity to feed them pellets and hay. It was heartwarming to see the children interact with these friendly animals.
In our Physical Education sessions, we have been focusing on throwing and catching skills. The children have discovered that using two hands makes catching easier and have explored both overarm and underarm throwing techniques. This has been a fun way to promote teamwork and coordination.
In Maths, we began by exploring capacity. The children had a fantastic time investigating different containers and using vocabulary such as 'full', 'half full', and 'empty'. We also introduced base boards and Numicon tiles, working on how to rotate and fill spaces. These hands-on activities have really helped to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts.
Our Nursery children have shown great creativity in construction, building elaborate structures for fairytale castles using building blocks.
They've also been developing their fine motor skills through our 'dough disco', which has proven to be a hit!
We celebrated Chinese New Year with a cooking session where the children made spring rolls, with help from the Chung Family. They also enjoyed creating beautiful Chinese dragon paintings.
As the weather turned colder, we took the opportunity to explore the freezing process by making frozen baubles, which the children found fascinating.
Traditional Tales have taken over our classroom, prompting us to transform the story of The Three Little Pigs into a new adventure called The Three Little Fish. The children have enjoyed retelling and reshaping these classic stories with their own creative twists. We even tried making our own porridge and discovered new delicious toppings!
In Music lessons we have been learning how to keep in time with the pulse of the music. We have been using percussion instruments to accompany our singing. The children have been extremely focussed during these sessions.
Finally, we marked Valentine’s Day with a range of engaging activities, reinforcing kindness and friendship amongst our little ones.
